Welcome to SOHIP

Urban Charm. Community Pride.
The Heart of Oak Lawn.

SOHIP is where first-time homeowners, young professionals, and empty-nesters merge, just steps from the city’s energy—but with a neighborly feel all its own.

Welcome to our neighborhood

SOHIP (South of Highland Park) is a neighborhood organization dedicated to community connection, safety, and livability. We bring neighbors together for social events, share important community updates, and work closely with city partners to protect and enhance our quality of life.

Whether it’s advocating for smart development, organizing a block party, or celebrating with an ice cream cone, SOHIP is here for the people who call our neighborhood home.

— Where if you arrive without a dog, we’ll find one for you.

Who we are

We’re an active, tight-knit community of more than 6,000 residents who value smart development, safe streets, and the unique character that makes our neighborhood livable and loved.

Our advocacy

We actively participate in local planning and work with city partners to represent the interests and well-being of our residents.

  • Advocating for responsible development that respects current zoning in PD 193
  • Ensuring public safety for all neighbors by working with the Northwest Division of the Dallas Police Department
  • Preserve the charm of our community for the next generation
  • Working with city leaders to represent the voices of all 6,000 SOHIP residents

Where were located

Our name pays tribute to our location—South of Highland Park—but it’s more than a geographic nod. It reflects the community’s spirit: bold, welcoming, and full of life.

Bordering the southern streets of Highland Park, SOHIP is a historic and vibrant neighborhood within Dallas’ Oak Lawn Special Purpose District zoning district—better known as the 'PD 193'.

What we value

We prioritize community connection, responsible development, and open communication to ensure our neighborhood thrives.
